Grok-2 gets faster after code rewrite – What is next?

ELON MUST X.AI GROK-2 GETS FASTER WHAT'S NEXT
  • Elon Musk’s X.AI has made its waves in the industry through its launch of Grok-2 Large language Model (LLM) chatbot.
  • Two developers Lianmin Zheng and Saeed Maleki responsible for code rewrite and make Groke-2 2x faster. Both Grok-2 and Grok-2 mini are released for public while later might be less powerful but is faster then ever.
  • A research engineer at X Igor Babuschkin says they are working on making it even more faster in the future developments.

Elon Musk’s xAI has made strides in the AI industry with the release of its Grok-2 and Grok-2-mini large language models (llms) chatbots. These powerful LLMs have solidified their position due to their performance in advanced AI systems. Recently, 2 developers from xAI were assigned to rewrite Grok-2 codebase in 3 days and its fair to say that both the developers “Lianmin Zheng” and “Saeed Maleki” did a great job doing that.

As a result we have seen huge improvements in their performance and leadboard charts by LMSYS Chatbot arena.

Have a look this.

Performance highlights

The Grok-2, the first flagship model, placed itself at the second position in the Lmsys Chatbot Arena leaderboard right alongside Google Gemini 1.5.

grok -2 performance

The performance of the given system is best illustrated by the results achieved in mathematical tasks as well as other categories.

Grok-2 Mini however may not be as poweful as other but still manages to take the 5th place on the leaderboard duwe to its performance and speed. The mini model may be a compromise in performance but it offers a good balance between speed and performance which makes it suitable for a wider set of users.

Future Developments

A research engineer at X Igor Babuschkin sayd that they are now focusing on the further improvement of Grok-2 as well as Grok-2-mini models and contribute to the development of xAI.

Yes, that’s the main reason for now. We will make it even faster than it is right now.

To further enhance the performance of Grok-2-mini, the company is trying to reduce the processing time, thus increasing the benefits for users who need powerful artificial neural networks with fewer computational loads.

The future of Grok-2 and Grok-2-mini appears to be bright, and there is a huge range of possibilities for how these tools can be used.
